  1. I have to put together some music videos this song to a soundtrack (from a movie that is about to come out soon). But I'm not very pleased with the software I am currently using.

And was wondering what softwares you would say are the best for ceating, developing, cutting, rearanging and editing video clips?

    Thanks alot for your time.

  2. I would definently recommend Adobe Premiere. Whether you get your hands on 5.1 or 6, either is great. Premiere has a fairley intuitive interface (especially if you've used Adobe products before) and had just as many feature as any other editing software. Great filters for audio and video special effects.

I've also heard good things about the Pinnacle DV studio. For the price, it may be a better option for you.

There are several programs out there, some say Vegas Video is the way to go. I have no plans on ever trying Vegas Video due to the horrible experiances i have had with Sonic software (buggy, incompatable, and overpriced programs)

MUCH BETTER THAN Adobe Premiere in every aspect.

  6. , i wouldn't have expected this much feedback so quickly. THANKS ALOT!

So which one should I go with Adobe Premier or Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.5? I don't have to pay for it myself either way. And my budget isn't limited.

Mirror_Image, sorry but i'm not at the studio right now. And I can't recall the name of the software. It looked pretty old though, i think it's just a microsoft editing software. It didn't have much features.

  7. Just download and tried out Ulead MediaStudio Pro 6.5. It seems good, especially it is able to directly create MPEG file. But heard that video quality will drop if directly export as MPEG file, it is true? In addition, Adobe Premiere seems like have more built-in transition, filter and etc. What do you think?

  8. How does Ulead Video Studio 6 compare? Ease of use and stability. I don't have a big budget.

    Thanks

Can't say about Ulead Media studio 6.5 but I used Ulead VideoStudeo 5.0 and it's buggy. It messed up some mpeg-2 codec and now tmpgenc can't open them anymore and only way to open them in tmpg is to do a re-install of VideoStudeo 5.0 (even Windows Media player can't open them and crashes).
Ulead customer service is horrible and I had bad experience with their PhotoImpact software & support before.

I'm also looking for a good mpeg-2 editor (specially cutter) which I can use to remove commercials from a DVD quality mpeg-2 files. Tmpgenc worked ok but it can only cut to a second (not to a frame or one tenth of a second), I need little more precision than a second. Haven't tried Adobe premier, but tried M2-edit pro 3.0 and VTech Video Clip Mpeg-2 pro 2.0 and they all seems to re-encode, so I don't know if I'm loosing quality by doing this.
Anyone has any suggestion how to remove commercials without loosing quality.

  11. I downloaded the Ulead video studio free 30 day trial. im quiet unimpressed. nothing overly new here. looks like the run of the mill 'our customers have no clue how to edit video so lets dumb this down' video editing software.
The problem when software companies 'dumb programs down' is that they are taking away features that will possibly confuse you. by doing this there creating a limited program. Premiere may have a learning curve but the benefits you get out of Adobe Premiere far outway the small learning curve.

things that i found with ulead video studio

-only one track of video plus a overlay track (premeire you can have up to 99)
-one sound track (premiere - up to 99)
    -limited audio editing
-no filters for audio nor video (no special effects)
    - crashed once during an hour worth of use

one good feature was the built in ability to burn DVDs and VCDs directly within the program (something Premiere does not have)

basically the choice of premiere and other video software programs comes down to this. If your serious about video editing without a doubt get premiere. if your just putting home videos toghther and the acutual editing dont matter much get a dumbed down cheaper program like ulead.

-you get what you pay for

  12. I believe Piper sugested mediastudio not video studio. In all fairness there is a big difference. Regardless, personally I have been working with Premiere. I looked over the media studio interface and it looks pretty good (similiar to Premiere's). MS's built in rotoscoping feature could probably come in handy too, although Premiere also has the option, ut you need to export into Photoshop, which isn't bad considering its an exellent image editing prog. It's a tricky choice, but don't forget to take into account compatibility. Make sure you will be able to fully support editing for either one, you mentioned that you didn't have a limit to your budget so that probably wont be a problem. There however is software compatibility. With Premiere you can be sure complete compatibility with other Adobe products such as After effects (for great special effects *helpful for music videos *), & Photoshop. Hopefully you still have a little time, have you looked into Avid systems, I've yet to work on the Avid Express I have, but I have heard it's as stable as they come. Well Good luck. Tell us what you decide.

  13. Yep, MEDIA Studio, not Video Studio (a world of difference between the two; also a major price gap).

Doesn't matter to me whether it's media studio or video studeo and the price. Most of the Ulead stuff I've use so far are buggy and most of all their customer service $ucks, it's non existant. I don't want to pay a hefty price and get no reply to my problems or call a long distance toll number and be on hold for hours. Sorry not for me.

  18. Well I dont know how fairley Premeire was analyzed. I can edit and capture in MPEG2 format. Sound Module???? who the hell needs a sound module?? All the sound editing anyone would ever need in video editing is built in to the timeline in premeire. Color Calibration?? Theres a filter for that. It all comes down to personal preferace. It just erks me when a great program is not given its fair dues.
