Hi to every one here, Ok my question is I want to convert some of my DVD's to a file format for my computer.

1: I want the files depending on the DVD to be between 700mb - 1400mb.

2: I want to get the best quality possible for picture and audio.

3: I'm not to bothered on time to encode or CPU consumption I just want the best results I can get for the file size I specify.

What's the best software and codec to use and how is the best way of going about encoding my DVD's.

Any tutorials for reaching the highest quality would be good, I have check out a few but I'm not to sure whats the best for my needs.

many thanks to any body that maybe able to help.

    koy.

I don't know about the 'best way', but ripping with DVDFab HD Decrypter then using AutoGK to convert to Xvid/Divx would be one of the easiest methods. The quality would depend on the settings you use.

  4. According to your criteria, I would use MeGUI and encode to x264, with AAC audio.

This is much harder to learn, and takes longer to do, but the quality will be quite a bit better for that given filesize in terms of both audio & video.

The other drawback is not very many DVD players support x264 playback, so you are stuck with PC playback or HTPC playback (although I bet this will change very soon)
