  1. I have a strange capture problem with my new Toshiba laptop running Vista Home Premium. I am trying to capture from a Adstech DVDXpressDX2 box and can only capture 6 minutes 13 seconds of audio. The video will capture fine. I can hear the audio while capturing so I know the audio is working. The problem is when I play back the capture. I have tried upgrading the Realtek audio driver, installed the SP1 Vista upgrade and tried reinstalling the DX2 drivers several times. The DX2 works fine on my older Toshiba laptop (Windows XP) and my Gateway desktop (Vista). The problem is something in my laptop. Any suggestions are welcome. My computer specs are Toshiba Satellite A205-S5812, Intel Dual-Core processor T2330, 2 GBs ram, Realtek High Definition Audio. I'm capturing with the CapWiz software that came with the DX2.

I understand some Realtek audio cards have problems with Vista SP1, but your updated driver should have fixed that. I've got a DX2, but I haven't tried it with any of my Vista computers.

  3. What ever the problem is I had it before any upgrades. I was hoping the Realtek driver update would solve the problem. I would try turning off services or uninstalling programs if I knew where to start. The only other thing I did was run a decrapper program to get rid of some of the crap software that came pre-installed.

I would start by contact Adstech, it could be a known issue.

I never did get the DX2 working on my new laptop. I think it's a driver problem with the DX2 and the Realtek sound card. I did find a solution for my problem though. I bought the Pinnacle Dazzle DVD Video Creator Platinum, downloaded the Vista driver and everything is fine. Sorry I can't help you get your DX2 working.
