  1. Hello Kids.

Under Huffyuv configuration dialog in Vdub one can choose the YUY2 compression method. There are three options, Predict left (fastest), Predict gradient, Predict median (best). I've seen different guides using different settings. Can someone explain to me what the difference (technical) is between the three and which one (opinion) works best for you. BTW, am capturing in 720*480 NTSC. Thank you for your help.

These three choices are just compression options. They do not affect quality, since Huffyuv is a loseless codec (no quality loss from compression).

Predict left is the fastest compression method, uses minimal or little cpu resouces, but results in the biggest filesize of all three compression.

Predict median is the slowest compression method, uses maximum or all cpu resources, but gives you the smallest filesize of all three compression.

Then Predict gradient is a middle of everything.

    (Personally I use Predict Gradient)
Hope that cleared it up for you. =]

  3. Try to capture in RGB-16 or RGB-32 and the colours will look much better.
