Recently DVDShrink gave "cyclic redundancy" message where upon I ran DVDFabDecrypter that completed, but DVDShrink automatically stopped and shut itself down in less than a minute when shrink process was started on DVDFabDecrypter files. I then ran RipIt4Me which completed, but Nero 6 showed 4.4 GB green area with remainder of area yellow on what appeared to be DVD9 disc even though I had DVD5 disc in the drive with no option to change to DVD5; also Nero warned burned disc may not play on some players and ask whether I wanted to continue to which I replied, No. I then ran DVDShrink again on files generated by RipIt4Me, and Nero was able to burn normally with no problems. Does this indicate possible bug in RipIt4Me or Nero, or is it just normal for some backups?

RipItForMe has not been updated in a long time. Therefore it has not kept up with the recent protection changes. DVDFab HD Decrypter needs to be updated very frequently to keep up with the changes. Even a couple of weeks can leave you with problems.

    As for Nero. . . . . . . .

cyclic redundancy error msgs can also mean your disc is dirty/scratched. Or your hard drive could need a defrag. As guns1inger mentioned you'll need to update DVDFAB HD DECRYPTER frequently and that RIPIT4ME has not been updated in a long time & never will be. Use IMGBURN to burn dvd media. NERO is buggy as hell!

    Hi...

RipIt4Me is still a very good ripper and can handel most DVDs and if it fails you
    can always use DVDFabDecrypter.

Infact (maybe the newer versions of DVDfab is better) RipIt4Me gives you a much
cleaner ripp then DVDfab, if it can handel the protection there is...

The Sony Arrcoos protection always give you a read error in VTS1_01 and sometimes in VTS2_01

RipIt4Me cannot handel Xcore and FluxDVD (there are some other I think) protection
and most of these protections have been found
    in Germany and Cech republic...

But in this case it looks like a dirty scratched DVD..

Try to use an old DVD burner to read the disc, the lazer seams to
be more accurate (sometimes works for me).

    stars...

To this day, I don't run into many examples where RI4M strikes out . . . but then, I am also unlikely to throw a title at it that was released in the last year or two.
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

Most likely this instance was caused by lack of recent DVDFabDecrypter updates because it's been a couple of months if not longer since it was updated. Thanks for all the info.
