Framerate Problems

I am trying to author a DVD but am having problems with the video
I am using SUPER to convert divx into DVD files for use with GUI for dvdautor.
Recently though, the preset profile for DVD is not working. This forced me to look up the DVD standards and convert it from there. It converted successfully and I succeded in making the DVD.
When I ran it on my player, the frame rate was weird. It seems to pause every few frames (very choppy). I am pretty sure this is a problem of the conversion. The input is 25 fps. It is especially strange because when I put it in my comp and play the files directly, they play correctly. Whenever I used the preset profile, it worked perfectly. I have seen this problem other times and it is not new.

If nobody knows the problem you can suggest a better (free) video converter.

I find FAVC (free) works well, and convertxtodvd (trialware$)

Both author your DVD with simple menus ready to burn, but you can choose no menu and use the VOB output to plug into your own authoring application.
