    I use Vegas & DVDa.
    Love them both, almost perfect.
    Almost: means problems with subtitles.
I can import and make DVDs with subtitles, no problem.

But importing a subtitle file leaves me with a blank line between the upper and bottom line. Seems that DVDa doesn´t like the

flag. I searched the net all over, and the only thing I found: unanswered questions. Maybe you can help me.
If I export the subtitle from DVDa to a textfile, after deleting the empty extra line:
there´s a rectangle (linebreak) symbol in notepad. Copying and replacing

    with the rectangle doesn´t work.
I even used a Hexeditor to change it, but now the second textline doesn´t even show up.

Is there any way, to edit the pure textfile, so there will be no empty line between upper textline and bottom textline?
Tried also | - no way. Shows up as a symbol.

I really want to edit, check the subtitle text in Notepad. Easier to overview the whole thing. And it´s a hazzle to edit the subtitles in DVDa.

Btw: why can I save the subtitles in DVDa in a Vegas region list format? I can´t find any way to import a region list to Vegas (export no prob).

Long, large post. Have patience - thanks

    Hi NoBuddy,

Had the same problem untill I fixed it this way:
    1) Open the SUB-file in Word 2003
    2) Save as Plain text (including the extention .SUB, not TXT!)
    3) In the following dialogue box choose Unicode
    4) under options choose 'only CR' for linebreaks

Do not use any styletags, styles can only be modified within DVDa.
    Hope this'll solve your problem...

Just tried out Subtitle Workshop 4 Beta 2.
Where you can save the file directly as DVD Architect subtitle script (sub)
But even this makes an extra line.

So the trick posted by Lippy Lipstick is still necessary.

Saving subtitles in order to import in DVDA, has been implemented in old versions of Subtitle Workshop for a long time. That was Sonic DVD Creator format.
DVDA up to version 2 did not show that third "empty" line between 2 sub lines.
That occured starting from DVDA version 3. But if you import all your media files and subtitles into project, then format 1 subtitle line as you wish it to appear, then apply formatting to all subtitles, save it and exit DVDA - next time you open that project, the subtitle will appear right as it should be.

Hi , i have another question related to this theme. I already got the process of aplying subtitles in DVDA and it works ok. Now I need to incorpor the subtitles i created for DVDA into a Vegas project. In DVDA i found the option "Export Subtitle" in a "Vegas video Region list" that makes a txt document with all the data. How I Import this file into the Vegas timeline (if its possible to do it ), because i havent found the answer anywhere,

    please help!!

  8. Importing Regions in Vegas should work using a script. Just look up your tools/scripts menu if you can find an "import regions" entry there. I have it, but I don't remember if came with vegas or if I got from somewhere else.

In Tools-Scripting- , the only region related item is "export regions as a subtitle". You mean it's probably a plugin for Vegas that provides you the "import" option? Which one????? [/img]

  10. I must have found it somewhere then. Anyway, I uploaded the script file plus a few other useful ones at Wikifortio.com, from where you can dl it using the file id 141804.
hope that helps you. The dl will be available for 89 days from today.
