Hi
I am compiling a collection of DVDs which will contain the best part of about 30 TV recordings that I have made using Windows Media Center. THe trouble is, is that the actual programs are in 4:3 but because the adverts, idents etc are in 16:9, Media center has automatically said that they are 16:9. Now whenever I use ANY DVD recording program, it will automatically put the recordings in 4:3 even though I am going to cut the adverts and idents out. When the DVD is made, all the recordings are in 16:9, everyone's head is streched etc and makes it look stupid. I have had this stupid problem before and it is making me rather angry. Is there any program/DVD recorder that will let me burn the recordings in 4:3 format? I am currently using Ulead DVD factory, whilst I can change the aspect ratio to 4:3, it will still cfreate a letterbox and the program still looks ridiculous. I am going to try one other DVD package and see if there is an option to change thbe ratio but I doubt it is going to work.
Can anyone suggest a converter of some sort that will squash or distort the recordings to make it 4:3?
I am desperate for this software but I can't find any anywhere.
I have tried tmpgenc with no luck and I have looked at SUPER (C) but that doesn't work either.
Thanks
Luke Stratton

Why don't you edit out the 16:9 commercials first, leaving you all 4:3 actual program footage before compiling the DVD?

ALL dvd video is stored as 720*480
the flags tell the player to display it as 4:3 or 16:9
you can change the display flag on the DVD info files before you burn the DVD, and display it the way you want it
of course the best thing thing to do is remove all the unwanted content before authoring your NEW DVD files then the 4:3 setting will be maintained thru the whole completed project
use IfoEdit to change the flags on existing DVD files on the HD and burn new dvds -
None of the above (I'm a Vegas user), and only Premiere and Premiere elements would be even worth considering . . . . . . . except that you asked the wrong question, and gave only incorrect options.
if you are serious about editing DVDs then you need to look at editors that will edit without having to re-encode. This included Womble, VideoRedo, Tmpgenc and some of the Ulead products.Read my blog here.

Hi
Thanks a lot for everyone's help. About changing the tags to show the video, how can I do this? I was going to edit out the adverts and stuff with the dvd burner, but I didn't bother because it was told to be put in 16:9 which stretches the 4:3 content.
Thanks
Luke Stratton
Edit: Sorry I didn't see the program at the end.
