I get an error trying to import quicktime movies into Sony Vegas. I have Quicktime Pro, so what I do is make the file export to Quicktime Movie and then I re-import it again. I was wondering if anyone knows why I would get an error with importing a quicktime movie and if so, how to fix it?

So it works to import in vegas after you use quicktime pro and save as a new mov?
What video and audio codec in the mov? Because a mov can contain different video and audio codecs and vegas may not support everything.

I'm not sure what the codec is. I have a Kodak Easyshare camera that exports to mov files. The thing about it is that Vegas will accept some mov files, but not others from the same camera. It's the strangest thing.

Open the file in Quicktime, go to Window-Show Movie info, there you will find the video and audio codec. Likely one of those is giving Vegas trouble, and the ones that work have a different, more acceptable (to Vegas) codec.

Okay, here are the codecs for all of the videos: MPEG 4 Video and u-law 2:1 for the audio codec

Well, instead of taking the time to export the video I just resave it with a different name and then it imports just fine.

  7. Hi. I have a Kodak PlaySport that exports files into .MOV, and they open in Sony Vegas(Pro 9), but it only shows like 2 frames per second.
I tried converting it into an .MPG file, and then it works, although the videos are HD, and when they open with the new file format, the quality sucks dinosaur nuggets :\
    Help?

I have a PlaySport and Vegas Pro 10. The files open as Sony AVC/AAC. Very standard format, no weird codecs. I think the "two frames per second" experience is the lag in the preview window because your computer is too slow for H.264, so it skips frames.

Try switching the preview to half size.

  9. Still doesn't work :\
I'm downloading Vegas 10 right now though, I'll try it out.
