    Hello,

I am new here and I was told this was the best place for answering questions.

Everytime I try to burn a file with subtitles (I have VOBSub), my burning program (Windows DVDMaker) quits halfway through. Anyone know the program? I have tried Nero in the past, but now Nero does not work no more on my operating system for some reason.

    Thx,

    Ray

DVD subtitles are normally added during authoring, after the video is encoded and before it's burned. Personally, I would use a real authoring program and not Nero or WDM. GUI for DVDauthor is a freeware authoring program that would give you a lot more control than those two. I would also suggest trying ImgBurn to burn the disc.

Or you might try the freeware all in one converter, FAVC, or the payware ConvertX, if you don't want to work with the individual programs. They both can handle subs.

    And welcome to our forums.

    Thank you very much.

I will try those programs. Hopefully, they work out for me!

I downloaded the GUI for DVDAuth prog, but it will not allow .avi files. It's probably just for DVDfiles, correct?

Do you know any free burning software I can use as an alternative to DVDMaker, a program that will allow subtitles involved in the write process?

I guess you either didn't read redwudz' post very carefully, or didn't understand it fully. Authoring programs such as GUI4DVDAuthor are for taking DVD compliant MPEG-2 video and audio, and subtitles in one of several formats, and authoring them to DVD (making the VOBs, IFOs, and BUPs). So, as you said, GUI4DVDAuthor doesn't take AVI as input.

He also mentioned 2 all-in-one programs to do the encoding conversion and authoring both, the freeware FAVC and the commercial ConvertX2DVD.

    Oh, okay. Thank you.

Sorry about that, I must have read too quickly. My mistake.

Anyway, I will try Convert X to DVD as I've heard that was a pretty terrific prog.
