I have a Samsung DVD-R135. Ever since we went to daylight Savings time I can't get the DVD clock to stay set. I have tried to set it to a PBC channel such as 21 or also manually set it. It keeps resetting itself to central time. This is frustrating as I do record alot. I have also set everything with the clock to Auto and still nothing.

Your problem is that your DVD doesn't think that it is time for DST. Change your timezone to Atlantic, so that it will set the time one hour later (to Eastern time) until the "old" DST time change date occurs (this weekend).

We are on central time and it is DST time here. We went on DST here 3 weeks early this year.

Then what is your problem? You are in the Central Time Zone and your player sets itself to the CTZ. Sounds to me that all is fine in your world.

The problem is the player does not recognize that it is on Daylite savings time. Everytime it is set whether Auto or manual it drops that hour. When it is suppose to be 10 it says 9 and so on. This is not fun when it is set to record.

Have you checked to see if there's a firmware update to fix this which is probably the only way to fix it permanently? Turning off DST should fix it if you have that option and if you don't mind changing time manually when time changes. Changing time zone will only fix it temporarily requiring reverse changes when the old date for time change comes. Expect to repeat similar changes in the fall since time changes back to standard time later now if you opt to change time zone.

There are a lot of gizmos with this problem. Unless you can obtain a firmware update, your machine will not recognize the new dates for switching to/from DST. Temporarily you might be able to trick them by changing the time zone.

    Good Luck!

Your Samsung should take its Time from channel 1-5 analogue cable Tele Text. Atleast thats what my Samsung does. So pull the power plug for a minute then stick it in again and the display will be blank with ------ on it wait up to a few minutes before turning it on and it should find the correct time in the Tv signal(it needs to be connected to the antenna ofcourse).

This is what I got from Samsung e-mail support,

try resetting the unit. On the front panel of the unit not the remote hold down the channel up and down buttons for 5-7 seconds without a disc inside. This is a factory reset.

I did this this morning and so far so good.

I will have to check out firmware as I have never done that. Always willing to learn something new.

Nothing changed here. It still wants to auto set. Don't think there is an update for this for the new DST. Maybe everything will be back to normal after this week end that is when DST normally would be.

  12. I sometimes set my machines to the zone that has a correct time. Which might not be my zone.

Have you tried my suggestion with unplugging the unit and then re-plug it a minute later and then wait to see if the correct time will display after a minute or so?

I did that and manually put the time in. I will know more in the morning if the time is still there or not. Seems to reset at midnight.

But you should not put the time back in manually. After the unit has been disconnected from power then when you re-plug it the display will show ----- just wait a minute or two and the time should come back on automatically if the unit is connected to the antenna(must be analogue cable though).
