    Hi all.
I've got a vexing problem with a DVD that plays back fine, but when loaded into various editors displays slight audio gaps between VOBs. Since I need to be able to load VOBs (or a contiguous MPEG) and edit them in order to complete this project, I was hoping VOB2MPG v2.5 would solve the "gapping" problem. Unfortunately, I get no audio, just fuzz.

The source audio is LPCM (DVD_LPCM_AUDIO according to GSpot) and is indeed 48 kHz LPCM. DVDShrink sees it as LPCM (Unspecified).

In both Vegas and Womble's MPEG Wizard the audio gapping is apparent when the VOBs are loaded on the timeline; likewise an exported MPEG from Womble. The pisser is I can chop up VOBs from the other source (these need to be inserted amongst the troublesome source in order to recreate the original end-to-end experience) and get smooth transitions using Womble's Fade effect. But because the VOBs of the main source break in the middle of songs, the gapping occurs.

That said, any ideas on why VOB2MPG v2.5 can't render the audio? It is the only audio stream.

Failing VOB2MPG v2.5, any suggestions on how to solve this gapping problem? It frustrating, as the files playback fine (they're HDD-based, so I'm using Media Player Classic to test, since that's how the completed project will be viewed via HTPC).

In the meantime, I'm going to burn the DVD and try DVD Decrypter on it. Maybe a demuxed audio file will emerge which can then be resynced. Seems like a lot of effort, but at this point....

    TIA.

  2. Have you tried VideoRedo? I have had really good luck using it as a cutter/joiner on VOBs. I would try ripping the DVD to the PC and work individually with the VOBs. I think there is a trial period that might allow you to complete your project.

I was looking for a freeware solution, which I found. I already have the VOBs on a hard drive (got them in a torrent). The only reason I contemplated burning a disc was to use DVD Decrypter on it (I don't see a way to use that app with files on a hdd, but I didn't delve too deeply). My thought was, failing a proper join/merge, I'd try demuxing and then try using those files in an editor (not sure that'd work, but it seemed worth a shot).

But before I burned the disc I did one last google search and found VOBMerge (thanks to a post in some forum somewhere). That one did the job, and I've already sliced and diced and faded and eported to a DVD using Womble's app (already had menus and such constructed).

I did download VideoReDo, which I might try, if it's not disabled.

Thanks for the reply. To anyone needing to merge VOBs, give VOBMerge (freeware) a try.
