  1. I've been trying some all in one utilities to re-encode some AVI's to DivX using Dr DivX and DivX Converter but get lip sync problems.

Are thare any applications that cater for this or is it a case of ripping the audio seperately?

    Thanks

Probably MP3 VBR AUdio. Try run the avi through https://forum.videohelp.com/topic321684.html and then convert. If it wont work we need the details from the avi, like what video and audio codec. Identify with gspot.

But why do you need to reconvert? The avis could already be divx format and you just have to change to the divx container.

Looking to reconvert for PS3 playback

Gspot reports as Codec DX50, Name XviD 1.0.3 and Audio (Dolby AC3) AC3

  4. XviD should work if you use it locally on PS3, and if filesize is <2GB

It should also stream with tversity

That way there is no quality loss from an already compressed video.

  5. I've tried XviD and they do not work, though DivX does, depending on the verison. I've tried tversity, this reported it did not like the format.

    So what's next?

  6. The newest version of virtualdub (1.8.0) handles vbr audio better (which is probably why you have sync problems), and can encode to DivX

I've not yet encountered any lyp-synch problems using FAVC (w/ HC Encoder) even with VBR mp3's.
Try encoding one clip with it to see if it works for you.

  8. I thought tversity was meant to encode on the fly. I'll give vdub and favc a go
