Tateu's QuickTime plugin 0.2.0.0/0.2.0.3
- has import options (previously mentioned),
- uses and requires QuickTime,
- file information window is not renamed (AVI Information)
fccHandler's QuickTime plugin 1.6 (this is different plugin than previous)
- has (different) import options
- uses VfW and ACM codecs (for AAC audio install fccHandler's AAC ACM Codec, for AVC video we can use x264vfw or ffdshow VFW),
- file information window is renamed (QuickTime Plugin v1.6 - File Information)
DirectShow import driver 0.91
- has no import options (when opening files),
- uses DirectShow filters,
- file information window has name... File Information and looks completely different than usual - plugin config is available from this window
Also FFInputDriver 1.6.0.1 can import QuickTime files - this plugin uses FFmpeg libraries and does not use decoders installed in system.
So, check which plugin is used and which decoders.
Then try other decoders or other plugin.
I guess that video was imported by DirectShow import driver and You have different 32-bit and 64-bit DirectShow filters.

Sorry for bumping an old thread.
I'm sure this is just user-error on my end, but I cannot get Virtualdub to open and files with the Directshow plugin.
In fact, when I go to File -> Open Video File, there is no Directshow option in the Files of type pull down box.
As per the instructions, I downloaded and extracted the Directshow plugin into my plugins64 folder and I already have ffdshow x64 installed.
What am I doing wrong?
I am trying to open an H264 movie file with AAC audio if this helps.
Thanks! -
With 64 bit Windows: 64 bit programs require 64 bit filters, 32 bit programs require 32 bit filters. Make sure you aren't mixing the two.
-
Edit: Oh! I downloaded the 64 bit from here (http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=15093 ) and that did the trick! Thanks for the tip jagabo.

Hi.
I'm trying 3-4 hour's to solve that problem and still dont know what is wrong
Here is screen:
All my video is recorded with Xsplit Broadcaster(720p & 25,00 FPS).
I'm using VirtualDub 1.9.11, FLV Input Plugin from http://moitah.net/ and
i try with install http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/files/x264vfw/ because of x264 codec but still dont work.
Can someone help to solve this problem?
I don't have any idea anymore, what is wrong
Tnx for any tips/help.Last edited by IlluzN; 22nd Nov 2012 at 18:43.

Download FLV plugins for Virtualdub, Open, select flv plugin and try.
Claudio -
@ IlluzN: the input plugins by Moitah are outdated, give a try to the FLV plugin by fcchandler:
http://gral.y0.pl/~fcchandler/Plugins/FLV/index.html
and get an up-to-date VfW x264 from komisar's:
http://komisar.gin.by/
Also, notice that the input plugins were NOT designed to deal with improperly-muxed files.
All my video is recorded with Xsplit Broadcaster(720p & 25,00 FPS). -
El Heggunte i try it but still the same error
Maybe if someone have "worked version" of VirtualDub and FLV files can .rar the whole program and upload it somewhere..? -
Make sure the FLV plugin is used when you open the file. Use the "Files of type" pulldown in VirtualDub's Open Video File dialog to force the FLV plugin.
That way you'll be sure the FLV plugin is being used, not another.
If that still doesn't work, use MediaInfo to verify your files are really FLV files. If the is really FLV and you still get that error message there is just some incompatibility between the file and the plugin. Try using a different source plugin like ffmpeg or DirectShow. -

I fix this... but have another problem
vdub dont support .spx sound. when i try to watch or convert to .avi is just a video without sound.

I have been using Any Video Converter and Avi Demuxe to convert all of my files to avi.
But occasionally they will not convert an mp4 or mkv file
And often they lose the sound half way through the video!
I have used Virtual Dub once or twice.
But it is so confusing with the 3 different versions
Have they done any work on it lately to simplify it?Last edited by Digmen1; 17th Dec 2012 at 23:16.

You only need to worry about one version of VirtualDub <-- that one. You don't need VirtualDubMod, or any of the other mods (except for some specialized uses).
-
hm
I give up on vdub.
Digmen1: Any Video Converter is bad optioni try it before and lose too much quality
I try some other program's and work goodI'm using FLVExtract to get "2 files" audio and video
then i convert audio with Ease Audio Converter from .spx to .AAC(because Yamb dont support .spx files like vdub
) and when is this done i use Yamb to get an .mp4 file
0 quality lose
Now i can use it in Vegas pro
yey
finally

It is simple if u have good audio
drag and drop on FLVExtract & u get 2 more files in map, then drag and drop in Yamb
Job is complete in 10 sec. without quality lose
K-Lite codec pack and Windows Movie Maker is another option for .flv files

I've spent several hours trying to figure out how to open a WMV2 Windows Media Video 8 with WMA v2 audo on in VirtualDub on my Win7 64 OS. First of all FccHandlers WMV plugin displays the "missing codec" black screen. I can't get his AACACM audio decoder to install correctly AND using the FFInputDriver doesn't help because ffdshow audio decoder puts out some kind of weird audio that VirtualDub can't transcode into mp3 or seemingly anything. If I play the file in GraphStudio, Windows appears to grab a bunch of DirectShow filters and does a bang-up job of things, so this all left me trying to get this Direct Show Input Driver working on my wmv file.
HERE's the solution that NOBODY managed to profer:
Change the file extension from *.wmv to *.avi ! It's just that simple.
Of course remember to select the "Direct Show Input Driver" from the drop down menu in the "File Open" dialog screen of VirtualDub.
I'm left with one problem however. There is a crackling noise in the audio and when playing back in VirtualDub it cuts out after a minute or so. Got more trouble-shooting to tackle I guess. -
Here's what FFInputDriver.vdplugin does with audio that screws VirtualDub. So I'm using "FFmpeg Supported Files" in the "File Open" dialog dropdown menu to open a video file with WMA2 16bit audio and if do a direct-stream copy to the output video file and check it with MediaInfo tool I see that it somehow it gets converted into this:
Audio
ID : 1
Format : PCM
Format settings, Endianness : Little
Format settings, Sign : Signed
Codec ID : 00001000-0000-0100-8000-00AA00389B71
Duration : 1mn 46s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 2 822 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz
Bit depth : 32 bits
Stream size : 36.0 MiB (65%)
Alignment : Aligned on interleaves
Interleave, duration : 42 ms (1.00 video frame)
Interleave, preload duration : 500 ms
How the bleep does 16bit audio get converted into 32bit and nothing I do with FFDshow Audio Decoder settings makes slap bit of difference. -
Well, I've been pursuing all approaches and still don't have anything that totally works. Opening a wmv file normally in VD will run it thru the WMV.vdplugin in my "Plugins32" folder. I've solved the "missing codec" msg by installing "wmv9VCM" from Microsoft and FFDshow and using the VFW configuration tool to select "WMV9" for all the Windows Media decoders on the "decoder" tab. That solves the video. As for the audio, the traditional solution was the old "msaud32.acm" codec which you can obtain by installing DivXAudioCompressor_4.02 (that's one technique), HOWEVER, this isn't working very well for the newer WMA streams. I'm getting division by zero crashes or "no audio decompressor found" for "missing codec (0x0162)". Just to keep everything in one place: codec 162 is apparently WMAv3 or Windows Media Audio 10 Professional, so we're pretty sure S.O.L. on finding an ACM codec for that.
Again, I would use the Direct-Show Input Driver if it wasn't for the crackling audio.
Forcing use of the FFInputDriver by selecting "FFmpeg Supported Files" in the "File Open" dialog results in VirtualDub being fed PCM audio with 32bit sample bit depth, which VirtualDub is too old to handle.
So the only solution I've come up with that works (albeit time consuming and sloppy) is to strip the audio out of the file beforehand using something like 'Free Video to mp3 Convertor' and then set VirtualDub to use "Audio From Other File" under the "Audio" tab.
You wouldn't believe how much time I'm willing to spend trying to make it so I can be lazy!Last edited by fwupow; 29th Dec 2013 at 17:31.

Just updated my VD to version 1.10.4 and tried both the 32 & 64bit versions and can't stop the audio from crackling. The source file has Windows Media 10 Professional (codec 162) audio.
MediaInfo:
Audio
ID : 1
Format : WMA
Format profile : Pro
Codec ID : 162
Codec ID/Info : Windows Media Audio
Description of the codec : Windows Media Audio 10 Professional - 128 kbps, 44 kHz, 2 channel 16 bit (A/V) 1-pass CBR
Duration : 1h 39mn
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 128 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz
Bit depth : 16 bits
Stream size : 91.3 MiB (4%)
This is what VirtualDub File Info reports:
Selected format: WFEX PCM 44100Hz, 2 channels, 16 bits, 176400 bytes/sec
Available format: WFEX PCM 44100Hz, 2 channels, 16 bits, 176400 bytes/sec
Filter: null renderer
Filter: audio grabber
Filter: WMAudio Decoder DMO -
Too old to handle 32bit float ? Where did you come up with that idea ? It works fine here
How the bleep does 16bit audio get converted into 32bit and nothing I do with FFDshow Audio Decoder settings makes slap bit of difference.
BTW - The ffinputdriver is completely different than ffdshow . FFDShow audio will only be accessed in vdub if you are using a directshow system (input driver, or avisynth script with DirectShowSource() ) -
Thanks for sharing what you know.
My experience so far has been that when using FFinputDriver, "File Information" in VD reports a 32bit audio stream even tho the source file is 16bit. Also VD refuses to transcode it into any other compression (error msg). Also if I do the "Direct Stream Copy" the output file will contain 32bit PCM audio.
I've had Avisynth on my computer in the recent past but I'm trying to get away from it because, frankly, it sucks when I can't simply use the OPEN FILE function in VD and just open the damn file that I want to edit. Maybe I'm a bit retarded, but I can't stand stuff that is messy and complicated.
The Direct Show Input Driver would be great if it weren't for the crackling audio that results from reading WMA.
Microsoft is the one who's really screwing us (I'm thinking intentionally) by coming up with stupid new ways of dealing with media. What was it? VFW & AFW then Direct Show, then Media Foundation and now another new or old twist with Win8. I wanna slap some ppl over there.
I love VirtualDub because it provides complete control over the codec settings while all other free & paid 'total solution' apps seem to be screwed up in one way or another so that I can't encode my videos the way I want. Hopefully someday soon I'll be able to open everything in VD. -
It works here in vdub, encodes work fine with WMA PRO 10 with ffinputdriver , audio to MP3
Directshow plugin works fine too (audio sounds crackling in the preview, but is actually fine in the encode) . Make sure you have an updated WMP installed and the proper WMO DMO decoder will be installed. (The old versions may decode with crackling, ffdshow may decode with crackling depending on which version) -
On the other hand it sucks when you can't perform the advanced filtering you need with VirtualDub. Make yourself a batch file that builds AviSynth scripts for you. Then put that batch file in your SendTo folder. After that you can right click on any video and select Send To -> AVS-DirectShowSource.bat (or whatever you call it).
Code:echo DirectShowSource("%~d1%~p1%~n1%~x1") > "%~d1%~p1%~n1.avs"
