    Hi,

I've been given a task to create a video for my school, it's a school song.

The video is created using Adobe Premiere CS3 and exported using Media Encoder, with the output of wmv. After that, I've created the subtitles with Sub Station Alpha, and done in Karaoke Effect with the Karaoke Transition (\K). Next, I've imported the video and audio wav to VirtualDub 1.7.8. Then, I set the compression of the video to Windows Media Video 9 with the quality settings as below,

    Quality: 100%
    Performance: 80%

Once that is done, I used the filter plugin, Subtitler to import .ssa file. Once done, I compressed the video and saved it.

Above are all the steps that I've done. I've tried for many hours with different settings and different methods of compression, but I receive one problem.

Above image shows that my karaoke subtitle is overlayed with 2 subtitles. I don't know what is the problem, can someone tell me what's wrong with it?

This problem has been bugging me for 3 days and I still cannot resolve this problem.

    Regards,
    Zepx

If you use the preview in VIrtualdub(the right window and press play at the bottom) do you also see two subtitles?

Nope, I don't see the small thingy.

Either way, I think I managed to solve this problem by saving the avi as a different file name... but it's still weird.

If you save the avi with same name as the subtitle file(like video.avi and video.ssa) and you have vobsub / vsfilter or ffdshow installed then will the subtitle be loaded automatically when you play the video.avi.

Thank you for the info. It seems that you are right, I do have ffdshow installed.

Is there anyway I can prevent this? Is this permanent (hardsubbed) on the video? Or it only happens when I have ffdshow?

  6. Hi-
Is this permanent (hardsubbed) on the video?
And this was bothering you for three days? Hehe, no, it's not hardsubbed into the video. To prove it to yourself, just move the subs out of the folder that has the video, or make sure they have different names, the video and the subs. Then when you play the video, no more double subs.

    @manono,

And yes, it did bother me for three days, I'm new in to Subtitling, and this is my first karaoke subtitle. The three days I spend searching around but couldn't find anything and ended up forced to ask. Thanks again.
