i got this 712 MG avi movie ive been trying to make it fit to a 700Mb 120 minute cd..i tried to cut some of it to make it smaller using Windvd creator then i tried virtualdub but both of them gave me larger file after cutting much of it..how is that??
i also tried to just burn the video into a DVD but i wasted many dvds and time trying to manage the movie sound and then gave up on it..

i read that i can use ashampoo movie shrink, but how much should i assign the movie size so it can fit to the 700MB cd ?

In Virtualdub set Video->Direct Stream Copy and Audio->Direct Stream Copy and then cut and save and it wont be any bigger. If your source has mp3 vbr audio use latest virtualdub 1.8 beta or virtualdubmod or you will get audio sync problems.

  3. The term "AVI" does not supply enough information. Most lilely a highly compressed Divx or Xvid, when edited your prog outputs an Uncompressed AVI, which would be much bigger. Recompression is necessary, or to edit while maintaining the existing compression scheme.

Some very basic reading and research would answer this question for you, and also point you to the correct procedures and path to follow, just like the hundreds upon hundreds of others who have asked this same question. That would be why there is a Frequently Asked Questions list, which I like to call the Dynamically Updated Master Breakdown for Access to Superb Statements.
