(null). ?? in macpardelux?

Ive noticed that rarely a d/l that usually might have a rar. file has a (null).xx

it not a dot but a larger dot 1/2 way up the space

usually macpar renames these to the correct name and extracts

what created the (null) and why?

null's are usually created by improperly downloaded files.
A stall in the network, a crashed computer, a power blip
that affected the cable modem. That's why Pars are great;
they rebuild anything that didn't completely download due to
these sort of things....

how odd. from this one particular source all the material comes d/l w 'null' at the same time others are fine. minimal PARs rebuild it though.

the nulls also could have been created on the poster's end,
he/she could have had a "blip" during the .rar creation
on their end.

I decided to do my own research and came across this on a forum:
"I noticed that files posted using Newsbin 5.0 create this problem with multipart files. If you use Newsbin 5.0 to download them, they are downloaded properly. But with Agent or Grabit, they are named null. Agent will not overwrite the files though so you can rename them using the par file. Grabit simply overwrites the file so at the end of the download you are left with one file called null and the directory is empty."
So there you have it. I'm posting with Newsbin 5.35. If anyone wants to recommend a good posting program, I'll give it a try.

any idea on what to tell a PC c00ker to do?

None that would be compatible or that he (the PC user) might want to hear,
rotus.

as long as you have Pars, you'll be ok on your end.
Just tell your PC friend to make Pars so that everyone can fix
the issue once they downloaded the files.
