Hi! I'm having an issue with audio syncing up when I join two video parts together - actually a couple issues so I hope it's okay to put them in one topic here. First, I have part 1 & 2 for 3 different videos. When I tried joining two of them in "AVI MPEG RM WMV Joiner" I got the mesage that they had "different sampling rates" and could not be joined. I took one and used AVIdemux to join it and didn't get any error messages, but when the file video was assemebled there is a glitch or stutter in the audio where the two files were joined. I have AVIdemux, AVIMUXGUI, AllToAVI and convertxtodvd as programs I use.... Can I use one of these to match up the sample rates? I'm figuring if I match the sampe rates, the glitch noted above will not happen, I hope.

2nd question: On part 2 of a video, the audio is out of sync, not by alot, but it is noticable. Part one is okay. How can I fix the out of sync audio? I tried using AVIdemux, there is a sticky were guns1inger suggested it, but when I play the file in Avidemux I do not get any sound?!?! But the file plays fine in WMP and VLC.

All files are xvid avi files.

    Thanks!

It's almost inevitable to have an audio glitch at a join, unless both tracks are silent at that place.

After joining and if sync is correct, you can demux the audio, convert to WAVE, and load it in an audio editor like Audacity to smooth over the join then convert to MP3, remux.

There is a quality hit on conversions, but with decent sources probably imperceptible.

I've joined up several videos that were received in parts 1/2 where the aduio was split right at the point of a word or song and never had one do this, but I guess it was bound to happen =)

I'm just learning to mess with video and have figured out how to convert to DVD and join up files (that don't have issues) hehe... Can I use any of the programs abovce to re-encode or make the adio sampling rates the same? Or how about to resync the audio in a video?

If the audio is indeed at different sampling rates, then you likely don't have both parts of the same release. In other words, you have part 1 of one release and part 2 of a different release (even if it is the same movie). If they were from the same source, the file specs would be identical. Your best bet, would be to find the correct parts.

If not, you will need to extract the audio from one of the files and convert it to match the second file. The problem will be that both releases are likely not split in exactly the same spot, you will end up with an audio and likely video glitch anyway.

I don't think those tools work in a Mac.

Buy a PC... lol - No, no... I'm kidding. As far as I know, one of my friends who lives in Sweden works as a representant for Apple, somewhere in the north of the country. If I'm not mistaken, he is able to run both Windows and MAC OS. Believe me, this guide works great.
    Cheers

Re-joining a split file is obviously a lot easier than the general case where you are joining pieces from different clips or versions.

Okay... Update. I was able to take part 2 and in AVIdemux, I used the time shift to match the audio to the video. Took some time, but I finally got the hang of it. So after getting the audio matched, I saved the file from AVIdemux to an avi file. It turns out I had to do the same to part one. Anyways, used avidemux to join them and it paly just fine. Thanks for the help!
