I've posted this problem before but no solution found. I have a dvd from a tv show set that cracked when trying to remove from the case (I eventually had to break the case clips to get it out).
The crack is right at the start of the disk. I cannot retrieve anything from the disk because the dvd drive does not recognize a disk is there (presumably it looks for some basic info at the disk start). The crack is not repairable and all standard software disk doctors don't work because the drive does not "see" the disk. I think it needs some forensic software that's going to tell the dvd drive there is in fact a disk there and to start reading at the first readable information. It may be that only specialized hardware will read the disk. Ideas?
