  1. I cant play a mkv with correct audio

I have opical audio on my motherboard.

When I play a movie I can only use stero mode to make it sound right.

When I use 5.1 I only get to speakers.

When I use A/52 over S/PDIF my audio reciver reconice the sound as dolby digital but the sound is very bad. It hacks. Like when you play a bad cd, with many scratches.

I dont know if it something with vlc or my motherboard.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks very much in advance

I have the same problem with VLC on some mkvs/ac3 files. It works MUCH better using ac3filter on those files. So try instead haali media splitter, ffdshow, ac3 filter(set it to Use SPDIF) and play with media player classic.

If you still want to use VLC try search the vlc forum, http://forum.videolan.org/
