    Downloaded a FLV file from google videos. It plays fine for a bit, but then later on the audio gets out of sync with the video. I am fooling around with avidemux, but not really sure what to do.

    Or is the video sync if you play on google video directly? Then try redownload the video using some other video download tool like firefox and the DownloadHelper addon.
