best software for a newbie

Hello,I am new here and also new to video. What is the best program software for someone starting out new. I have Pinnacle and also Adobie 6. I know someone who has a mac and he uses Finalcut. Is there a program like Finalcut for windows. He can do some amazing things with that software. Thanks...Hack

You can do amazing things with pretty much any software - if you take the time to learn it.

Pinnacle is OK, depending on which version. Some versions are bug ridden nightmares, others are almost stable enough to work with.

If you are serious, have a look at either Premiere Elements or Vegas Movie Studio. Both have demo versions and both are good for beginner to intermediate users.

I can't say that finalcut is something for newbies. Vegas is one of the best editors for windows but it's not that easy for new users. I would probably instead start with Vegas Movie Studio.

Thanks for the quick replys. I have Pinnacle 11. I also had Pinnacle 7 but 11 is easier to work with less bugs. My friend with final cut did go to school to learn it. I will check out the other that you suggested. Thanks again....Hack
