  1. Hello,

I have an avi movie and I want to cut the commercials by using VirtualDub because they say it doesn't re-encode the file.
    The movie file has 720Mb.
I cut a total of about 10min and when I save it, it results a file of over 10Gb after a lot of time, no matter if I use "Save as AVI" or "Save segmented AVI".
It seems this program DOES re-encode avi files and in a bad manner.

I really don't need any kind of re-encoding, I need the avi with its initial parameters, just without the cut parts.
Is there any possibility for that?

    Thanks.

You can't do frame accurate editing in Direct Stream Copy mode.

If you use the new version, 1.8.0 (which everyone should be using by now) then you can use Smart Render to get exact frame editing which will only recode between your cuts and the keyframes and direct stream copy the rest.

When using 'smart rendering', should we use Fast, Normal or full processing mode?

If you are using filters then you have to use Full Compression mode. If you are only cutting out commercials and such, you can use fast, normal or full compression.

It is really fast at saving the file, whatever mode you choose.
