  1. Hello, Group.

A virus was "caught" the other day by AVG(spoolvs.exe), and since then ImgBurn is just not acting right. (And I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the wonderful program.)

The problem I'm having is with verification. The burn is smooth, but during the verification process I'm getting dozens of "mismatched cell" errors. Something I've never had before. And the weird thing is that the unverified discs are fine, both in my computer and in my several stand-alones.

Obviously it's not ImgBurn, but some other part of the OS which was affected by the "caught" virus.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks!

I don't have any ideas specifically, but a log from one of these burns would help ("Help"->"ImgBurn Logs..")

Also, most of the ImgBurn experts are over at the the IB forums; you might try searching/asking there.

Sorry I can't be more help.

spoolvs.exe can be a print spooler application that's part of the OS or it could be malware. It can use large amounts of RAM and CPU power at times with normal Windows operation.

ImgBurn is generally trouble free. But verification with most burning programs is not conclusive that the disc will be problem free. As mentioned, your ImgBurn log may be useful if it does show a problem.

If you are just using the basic AVG free, it may not find all forms of malware, such as trojans or root kit viruses. I have also had a lot of false positives from AVG, so I don't trust it as much as I used to.

I would check further for malware. Trend Micro's online scan can be useful for this: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
You can also do a Google search for ' spoolvs.exe ' and get more info and removal information. I'm concerned that if that was malware, you may have only removed part of it.

  4. Don't use verification,I don't.
I know it doesn't solve your problem but if it burns and plays fine then don't worry about it.
