  1. I have a CD of me talking in court when the judge was disallowing accommodation of my disability, and he had also allowed the lies of the lawyer for Deutsche Bank, in a foreclosure. The lies are clear, it's not me just thinking they were lies.

So if I have the CD in my computer, is there a way of the computer making an audio file of the sound without me using a mic? I don't think I have a mic. Or, does my computer, a relatively new one, come with a built in mic that I can activate?

I don't see any little holes that would indicate a mic, though..

Your question is a little vague. Are you trying to convert the CD to another format, such as an .mp3?

Despite my deep depression over this situation re the courts, you cracked me up. But not in the crack cocaine way enjoyed by judges like Brennan.

(I don't honestly know if he used crack, he was caught with "cocaine" --)

Okay, here's the thing... I don't know the terms you and MovieGeek used... mp3? etc. I have no idea.

All I want to do is have the audio available on my site for people to click and hear... I'd like them to hear the judge dissembling.

  6. 1.Use WMP or CDex to rip the CD to WAV.
2.Use Audacity to edit parts that you want and save as MP3,you will need the MP3 codec below.

    lame3.zip

Was this CD given to you by the court? If it was secretly recorded without the courts permission you can get in trouble(depending on local laws).
Even though court proceedings are public record I would transcribe the audio into text to be safe.
I am not a lawyer but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Okay, let me see what you are telling me... You have quite a lot of money and can travel when you like, but you don't stay at the most expensive hotels... that's because you are a wise man. (Frankinsense, kind of thing)

The CD is the audio transcript. I paid for it from the court. I think the judge or his cohorts tampered with one of the four CDs.... the sound doesn't quite sound right and what I remember is gone....

Okay... so The thing is... do I need special soft ware to do this? or is this stuff that's in my computer?

Can you tell me the steps to "rip the CD to WAV"?

    Oh, this is soooo cool.

    So far, so good!

I have the Windows Media Player... When I opened it and found "rip" it said it would record after I inserted the CD...

    Okay, but here's the trick.

Media Player won't play the CD.

I had to download a specific program, called "FTR", in order to hear the CD...

So, does this make it all more tricky?

  10. FTR is a propietary format. You could play it and record the sound with Audacity, just select "Stereo Mixer" or "WAV" as the source.

I'm really excited about this. I mean, REALLY!

Because "Beta" is second, does that mean it's less likely I want it? (I don't know what Beta is... like a B movie???)

Thank you SO much for your help. It's fun to have something to do besides worry about the court stuff.

  12. Okay... so it's downloaded and it looks just like your picture of it (surprise, surprise)

so ... do I just play the CD and it will record the sound?

    I'm going to try it.

... Okay... so my dropdown menu does not look like the one in your picture. There's no "Stereo Mixer"... the bottom one is something like Play CD... so since they are in the same position, and it sounds like what I want to do... I'm GOING TO DO IT.

    WAY Nike!

    *****

Well, I've clicked a few things, and it made a sort of fast noise with a quick green display... so that didn't seem to be it. Then I did something else, and it began to display numbers that are getting larger, but very slowly.

Oh, it didn't like the first thing I did, and said it didn't recognize the ... whatever ... it suggested I try it as "raw data", so I did and then it put the name in a box... so that was good. I think it may only have done 5 minutes so far... quite slow. But, HOPEFUL.

I can't wait to see if it sounds like me.

Is this sort of how people make videos for YouTube?

  13. okay, it's still doing the numbers... maybe it's doing its own thing... maybe it enjoys numbers and this is a great outing for it...

maybe it's looking for something... and so far hasn't found it... it's at 58:33...

so that seems like it's almost an hour. I don't think there was more than an hour of audio. In fact I thought there was a lot less than that...

  14. okay... I get it now. It seems to recognize the CD. Which Media Player and Real Player don't.

But what it transfers in sounds like a scratchy, quick ... I don't know. It maybe is all of it compacted... and so it sounds like a high pitched scratch that lasts a couple seconds....

    What do you think?

Do I have to have a Mic? then I could maybe do it?

  15. I've got the Beta now, and it works better for me. It says it won't be able to input proprietary things... but that I can record... or do some other things.

I have a hard time remembering because I have a bit of brain injury.

So, this time I can hear something like talking, but very faint... so it's getting better.

I would love to have any suggestions that come to mind, to get it to sound the way the CD sounds when I play it...

If this is the player that you downloaded...

    http://www.fortherecord.com/page.asp?pageid=183

it is supposed to save the file in different formats (wave, mp3 etc...).

If it doesn't, you need to play the CD through the FTR Player while using Audacity (or any other audio editor) using Stereo Mixer. You can't use the CD setting because the format is proprietiry and Audacity doesn't support the format which is why you get the short screaching sound.

There is a support forum on the players' website where you could get better help or you could contact support. There is probably a help file in the player that will tell you how to do what you want to do. Since I don't have the player (or know anything about it), I can't tell you what you need to do to use it.

I do use an FTR player, it's called "plus" or something.

I've never saved the file, I just always put the disk in.

For some reason, Audiocity doesn't have a button for Stereo Mix on my copy...

You need to PLAY the cd/file in your FTR player, and then open audacity and RECORD the "sound" that is being played.
When the cd is playing, in Audacity click the RED CIRCLE button (record button), try "Wave Out Mix" as the source - it just worked for me (when recording audio from a .wmv file played in VLC)

Oh wow, did it work for you?

I tried that last night, (early this morning) and the sound I got was so faint it wasn't really successful.

Where is it recording the sound from? I mean, ... do you use additional speakers? I have some, so maybe that would work. I was going to try that this evening. (I was working on court things today... I hope I'm not jailed for contempt since I wrote that I was well aware that Judge Vigil could lie in court safely because of his absolute immunity...)

I went to that FTR forum... but I couldn't get the things they mentioned to work... I thought maybe if I told Audacity that it was four channels, then it would work... but no.

I can't see on the FTR thing how to change the format and save it...

So, it would be great if I could just play it and record the sound. And you didn't use a mic?

Well, using external speakers, there's nothing recorded on Audacity....

Also, I can't get it to give me a working menu to choose the WAVE Mix again... I don't know why that box won't go active...

My Audacity never does such strong expressive lines as yours does....

  21. Steve and MovieGeek,
    Thank you SOOOO much.

I tried again, and I think it won't be active if I use external speakers. So when I disconnected them, then the WAVE OUT thing showed up, and I matched all the settings to those Steve had used, and I tried it... and I got thick lines and it worked!!!!!!

    Happiness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you SOOOOO much.

The next question is, how do I put the new sound file on my web site?????

Oh! You Guys!!!!! I am so thankful to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All you need to do now is download the lame3.zip file that MOVIEGEEK linked to in one of his earlier posts.
extract the file "lame_enc.dll" from this zip archive and remember where it is... tip - put it in the Audacity\Plug-ins folder
Back in Audacity, from the file menu choose "Export As MP3". Audacity pops up a window prompting you to locate "lame_enc.dll". Click Yes and browse to where you extracted the file.
You can then add some ID3 tag information, if necessary
Job done - you have an MP3 - today's most popular format ! (ooh - controversial... anyone ?)

    Wow, this is GREAT!

I had thought all I had to do was link the file name to my page using the "audio" prompt in SiteBuilder, but I bet that wouldn't have worked.

I have to go out and buy candles this morning (my sourse of heat due to the corrupt judiciary here in NM)

This afternoon I will try this. This is WAY cool. Thank you SOOOOO much.

    Have a totally WONDERFUL weekend.

Oh, by the way, does MP3 stand for anything? While it may be controversial that it's most popular, at least I now know that the fact I don't know what it is isn't holding back everyone else.

Both Wikipedia and Google are good places to find things.
    Don't be afraid to search...

Almost forgot to say, you can search this site for all the questions you have about video/audio... there are also many good guides...

  25. If the speech that you need for your case is delivered in U.S. Court, then the court will have them on record, and most likely on a PC, that they can play back the section you need in a legal proceeding. Ask the court clerk, with the specific session, date, and time, and parties involved, aka the court record.

If you are tapping the conversation, then the speech will not be allowed, because that is illegal. In some states, that is consider a legal offend. Contact the state legal aid department to figure out your and the other person's right.

I tried before I posted. I didn't find the answer.

The answer is here on this thread, that's the only thing I need to do.

I felt put down by being told you thought I was afraid to search.

I paid fore the CD transcripts of the hearings. The CDs were then provided by the court.

The State legal aid here is deplorable. Worse than nothing, often wrong.,

The courts are so corrupt in New Mexico, that the main thing is not to let the turkeys get you down... that's cleaned up for forum posting.

The CDs show the opposing lawyer lied, and the judge lied... that's based on what they were saying being exactly NOT what is in the record.

The first judge I had in New Mexico was just recently arrested when the woman he was beating up screamed loud enough to bring the police who broke into the Honorable judge's home and found him choking her by that point.
