  1. Hi
Is there such a software that will allow one to firewire transfer the contents of a minidv tape to hard-drive, then reprint back to a blank tape without shifting or losing the original timecode? I need to make a identical copy of a minidv tape without timecode shifting.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi schematic2,

I don't know if any of these will do it, but you could try (in order of what I suspect will / may do it):

    Enosoft DV Processor
    WinDV
    DVdate
    DVIO

And you might want to look at DV_Datecode as it may be of help.

    Good luck.

Also look at Captureflux by the same author of DVDate.

  4. No.

You can preserve all the information (recording date, time, camera information etc) EXCEPT timecode.

New timecode is generated when you record to tape.

The only exceptions are a few high end professional decks that do allow the timecode to be preserved.

    Sorry.

  5. Thanks everyone for your input. I suspected what John Miller said, but I hoped there was a magic work around....
    Thanks anyway...
