  1. First post here so hi all!
The mpegs I have play well on windows media player classic but I'm having trouble getting these to play on my dvd player. I tried using Imtoo dvd creator, Nero 7 (Nero Vision I believe), Convert X to dvd. I always get the same " No disk" message on my dvd player. I've also tried them on my brothers divx dvd player and even tried playing the dvd's on my PS2. I know the dvd player I have plays backed up dvd's because I've backed up spider man 2 and it works fine.
I've downloaded and installed the K-Lite Codec pack and all I do is add the mpegs to these programs and let it take over, am I missing a step? I'd also like to mention that I'm using DVD-R media but my burner does support DVD-R and DVD+R media.
This is a link to my dvd burner http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=14976
and here's a link to my dvd player http://www.codefreedvd.com/dvd_jvc310b.htm

So anyone have any idea how to get these to play on a dvd player, which programs work best/you use, some sort of walkthrough would be great too because I think I feel I've tried every popular program for this.
Thanks in advance for any help[/url]

Are you making PAL or NTSC discs? You can choose format in most all-in-one converters like convertxtodvd, nerovision.
Have you tried different dvd-r media brands? www.nomorecoasters.com

  3. Sorry I'm using ntsc because I'm in north america so I assume the player reads ntsc format. I haven't tried other dvd-r media but I have tried Verbatim dvd+r media to no avail. The dvd-r media I am currenty trying to do this with is Imation brand dvd-r.
Does it look like I'm doing everything I should be doing correctly?

  4. Have you tested the output Video_TS folder on your PC? - If the output is fine, this narrows down the problem to the burning process, not the authoring software

What software are you using to burn the output files to DVD? Are you using a DVD video profile or data disk profile?

Try putting the burnt disk back into your PC - does it read & playback correctly? Try playing the burnt disk on a friend's standalone DVD player or PC - does it work?

There are two folders on the dvd. Audio_ts and Video_ts. The audio_ts folder is empty but the video_ts folder has files. When I select to play the dvd in Media player classic the dvd plays normally with video and audio.

The software I'm using is Convert X to DVD and I'm not sure what DVD video profile or data disk profile are. I just add the mpeg to the program and it converts and burns automatically.

I've played these dvd's on my brothers divx dvd player and the dvd player also does not read them.

  6. Update!
I tried the dvd+r verbatims once again but this time burned at X2 speed and it worked! Great quality too. I would never have thought it was the media causing such issues.
Thanks for all you help guys!

It ain;t the media its your burner or your player.

Your burner should be able to burn faster than 2x on the Verbatim. And that media should play in your player.

This is a workaround for the real problem.

Since your brother's player also didn;t work, I'd point the finger on your aging burner. It was a good beast when it was new, but it isn;t a new burner anymore. Of course its also old enough to need a firmware update. If you haven;t updated the firmware recently do it.

  8. Where can I find the firmware for my dvd burner?

  9. The same page you have linked for the burner model. Download->Firmware. Look for your model.
