    Im new to this so this may seem ignorant but here we go. I downloaded a movie from torrents.to and I tried to encode the file with ffmpegX and it tells me it failed. The movie files downloaded and saved as scl.part01.rar . Im not sure how to convert these files to something ffmpegX will read. Any help will be appreciated.

    foo.part01.rar is a file in a collection of a segmented RAR archive.
    RAR is often used to split up some big file(s) into smaller parts.
    To use the file in the archive, you'll need to unrar first.

    Try TheUnarchiver for this task.
    There are many other tools for the same task, though.
