Hey guys, I've been coming to this site since I can remember, back when it was like VCDhelp.com and its been soooo helpful...but anyways, I'm having some issues with my codecs (I think). A lot of my video files have a VBR and wouldn't properly load into VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod unless I used a DirectShowSource AviSynth template. When I did that everything worked great, but I suddenly started getting an error saying that VirtualDub had stopped working. The problem signature is at the bottom... I thought that it may be an issue with my codecs because I had installed some packs not realizing til later that it was a bad idea. So I uninstalled all my packs that I could from the Add/Remove Programs thingy but when I went to Codec Sniper it showed like 170 codecs still there. A large number were "broken" but I couldn't get them to delete. Can anybody help me with this? Also, I don't know if this is the same problem or something different but a lot of my videos, xvid mpeg-4 codec, are skipping like 30 seconds and the picture gets weird colored for a couple seconds. Any help with that problem will also be very much appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds like the codec packs have done some damage. They also don't uninstall well most times. You could try running Codec Sniper in 'Safe Mode' and do your deleting there. Or try what aedipuss suggests.
If all that fails, a OS reinstall may be the last option. Another good reason to stay away from codec packs. -
I tried gspot and had no idea what I was looking at. A lot of the codecs said "other" but none said "problem". I'll try using Codec Sniper in safe mode, thanks for the help.

Aside from cleaning up the broken codecs to keep your system orderly, it shouldn't really be needed to get your apps functional.
For each video that you are having playback problems, open the video in Gspot and see which codec is needed for playback. Then simply install/reinstall the codec(s) that is needed.
The same applies for VirtualDub. Try unininstalling and reinstalling the application and whichever codecs/addons that it requires to read your files.Google is your Friend -
Thanks guys. I'm currently in class, but when I get back to my room I'll try these things out. I really appreciate the help.
