For all the brands/models of DVD Players out there, I am surprised (or at least currently ignorant) there is not a comprehensive list separating players into two important categories: ones with 5.1 (or more) analog audio outputs and ones absent of this!!! In my own search, typing in search words for this leaves results way too inaccurate.

I am a new member who just gave feedback suggesting a box to be checked in the dvd players "more features" list relating this need.

At the very least, if someone was interested in obtaining a dvd player with separate surround channel outputs of some quality, they could then move on and start building an affordable A/V entertainment system that avoids buying a receiver/preamp component or pre-packaged system used to outsource the AC#, DTS decoding. It leads the way to amplifying, processing the channels and choosing one's own speakers (to eliminate timbre effect), separately; and creating a higher fidelity affordable system.

If anyone is aware of how to steer me to this list or has some info to narrow my search that would be most appreciated. thanks for your time. S

Anything that can play SACD and/or DVD-Audio should have this. Such machines are unfortunately getting incredibly rare in North America these days. Oppo makes some. Check out:

Many here rave about their players.
