I made a few copies of some movies that i own. When attempting to play them in the dvp5982, the root menu comes up with Video ts, audio ts, and the name of the movie folder. When i press disk menu, is says invalid. If I want to watch the movie, i have to pick the ts files and play it that way. It will play the ts files fine. Has anyone else encountered this? I have a dvp642 and it plays them fine. I havent changed the format or anything else

Assuming the 5982 doesn't have any issues with other movies and commercial discs, I would be suspicious of your copying/burning process and/or the media.

You could unplug the unit for 30+ minutes and see if it will reset. It may also be worth checking for a firmware update.

Aside from that, I haven't heard of this particular issue before.

  3. Sounds as if you somehow burned the disc as a data disc rather than a DVD format disc. What was your process

Try burning the disk using the latest version of Imgburn (use the build option and select the files from the shrinked folder) and see if that fixes the problem, if so then its your Nero, which is also wierd. My 642 (RIP little buddy) played everything, but would not play a dvd burned as a data disk (Yeah, I've done that as well) so perhaps your 5982 is having a brain freeze. I like Imgburn so much I only use Nero to backup CD's now.
