Just recently I havn't been able to burn dvd's on my laptop. I burn VOB files and avi's with convertxtodvd or its brother copytodvd. Lately I keep getting "incomplete burn" at only 7.7% complete, then the program seems to freeze up. I ruled out media, since I tried 3 different kinds (sony, verbatim, maxell) and my DMA settings are correct in my device manager. My dvd drive plays dvd's fine, writing is the issue. I have a gateway laptop and the drive is model HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N.
Could an outdated driver be the culprit?

at exactly 7.7% with both programs. Tried authoring a different movie, also. Still got 7.7% complete and then a freeze (had to abort by ctrl alt del). I have been using convertxtodvd for years, I would hate to abandon it, could the program really just go to crap?

If you continue to have the same problems burning to DVD with other programs run and optical lense cleaner through you DVD/RW drive, if that fails run a memory check on your computer.

It's not always a good idea to use a optical lense cleaner. Try a different burning software like IMGBURN to burn your dvd media. Or your laser on your drive could just be dying a slow death. If you're using crappy dvd media like MEMOREX, TDK, OFFICE DEPOT & HP those are considered poor quality dvd media. Try using VERBATIM dvd media.
