friend suggested checking vid forums for help.
need to find one of the OLD viewfinders from a camcorder that was de-tacheable and has either bnc or threaded cable connectors for the cable to connect to the camera.
i had one i used for setting up surveilance cameras and it died a horrible death...falling about 8 ft to the concrete below.
no luck finding on e-bay, so i am here asking the gurus that be where i might get another

I changed your topic subject. Just need to find... doesn't say anything.

Why do you want to use the viewfinder from an old camcorder, why not just get a small LCD monitor/TV? There's thousands of them on eBay.

You can get a new one here for about $100US: http://www.supercircuits.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3969
Color version, about $240US: http://www.supercircuits.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=5466 -
Richard_G would one of those be self powered? not real big on hardware of this type. camera placement on my job is often at the top of a light pole or on roof lines.
Got the old viewfnder for free and it was self powered, small and light.
Also took a lot of abuse till now banging around in the truck, on ladders etc...lol -
I am parting out an old RCA camera right now...it has a cabled, detachable viewfinder - mono with a detachable rubber eye hood and focus knob - it has been so long since I have used the camera for production that I am not certain how big it is, but it's a viewfinder. I had other plans for it as the only thing wrong with the camera is one of the CCD imagers is having problems (white balance...what's white balance?). You can PM me if this sounds like the piece you are looking for...

Sorry for not getting back here sooner, dont get a whole lot of puter time.
dug what was left of the old unit out of the junk box to see if there was any model etc marked on it to try to get something similar.
it was a sanyo vsc 800 was a great unit for crawling around all over setting security cams causee it was about palm sized and powered with a 9v batterie -
Someone tossed one of those portable dvd units like all the "cool" folk have hangin in their cars these days in the trash at work.
Didn’t work of course, but since the bulb clicked on in my head that I was actually looking at two units on my old viewer (pwer/vid con and viewer) I started tinkering...
Got the screen to power up with my old power supply/vid link, figured out which wire in the bunch is for signal.
I now have a 7" color viewing screen for my set ups..wont know how to act with that high class unit!
Thanks for the help,
Keith
