Hi how do I go about resyncing subtitle files?

For example, I have an AVI movie file and I have a subtitle file (.srt) for that movie, but not necessarily the same version. So all the subtitles are correct relative to one another, but it is just slightly delayed/slightly ahead of the lines in the movie file. So I want to find a way to fix the srt file so it syncs with the movie. Thanks

    subtitle workshop! or Time Adjuster.

You can also use vobsub to adjust delay directly if you just are playing the video and sub on your computer.

For some reason I always get an error everytime I try it with different files.

When loading the srt file I get this
"File is corrupt or not in SubRip format"
