Not all players can be hacked and if you know that you need a region free player, then you should be shopping for a region free player and not just hoping a player can be "hacked". In addition, Sony players are known to not be be easily hacked or even hacked at all.

With that said, the palm pilot or service remote hack appears to work for this player:

    http://www.novii.tv .
Install novii remote in yours PocketPC or Palm.
Install to (move to) 'novii folder'/Codebases/ file 'DVD_sony_0.pdb'.
Power on your player without a disk (the tray is closed).
Start on yours PocketPC(Palm) the program 'novii remote'.
Select 'DVD_sony_0'. Direct the infra-red port your PocketPC(Palm) on dvd-player.
    Press the buttons "1","2","3","4","5".
    Press the buttons "1","2","3","4","5".
    Your player is multiregion.

It's not our fault you didn't consider this possibility. So it's not your fault either? Hmm... I'd say Krispy Kritter was kind to give you more help than you truly deserve.
