  1. QUESTION 1: Ok..I want to make a make a cd-r disk. I was told I would neet to make it into a vcd. I have nero software to burn. How do I make my two .avi files into vcd files and burn them to a cdr with nero?

QUESTIONS2: How do I burn the 2 .avi movie files onto 1 or 2 cd-r disks so that they will play on a computer? Do they need to be vcd files? I have done abit of reading throughout this site. But it seems to be complicated and I was hoping to do all these before the weekend.

    simple answer.
    -download tmpgenc
-use it to convert the two avi files to mpeg.
-use the "mpeg tools" under file to join two mpegs together.
-so long as the grand total of files isn't above 80 mins, they can fit on one cdr.
-if greater than 80min, keep em seperated and use two cd's.
-open nero, select the "vcd" template
-drag your movie file(s) over to the left side i believe, just like making a music cd.

enjoy your vcd. and if you aren't willing to read, then you aren't willing to learn. remember that.

  3. For some reason my tmpgenc will not open my avi files?
it says can not be opened...?

And i have the latest nero version and it does not have that vcd template you said. i think old versions do have it because i think i remember having that...what else can i do with the newer version? and why isn't the program working? i am willing to read but i am in somewhat of a hurry....
so i want someone to give my directions and learn after..
    Thanks

  4. The easiest way would be to use nero and drag your avi files over. It will encode them to Mpeg for you and burn at the same time. If you get the same error can't be opened try reinstalling the codecs needed to play the video. If it still won't do it you probably have an incomplete avi file. There are some tools out there that can fix broken avi's I've seen them. Try www.doom9.org under downloads or look to the left <== under tools. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't.

  5. fyi i read the thread and was supprised at what you were saying about nero no longer having the vcd template. So i downloaded it and lo and behold it's still there.
If you're having problems finding it i'll give you the steps to do so.
    1. start nero
    2. a)if you're using the wizard click on compile a new cd, then click next
b)if you're not using the wizard, you'll see the new compilation screen. There's a scroll bar on the left side go down until you see video-cd, click on it.
3.a)if you're using the wizardclick other cd formats, click next
b)if you're not using the wizard, click on the encoding resolution (ntsf in north america)
4.a)if you're using the wizard choose video cd,click next
b)if you're not using the wizard, click new on the right side of that screen
5.a)if you're using the wizard read the instructionns, click finish
b)if you're not using the wizard, in the file browser(right half) find the file you want to burn. drag it into the left window.
    6.a)do what the instructions said.
b)click onthe burn button (the little circle with flames and a finger)
7.make sure the write and finalize boxes are checked
    8.click on write button
    9.wait till it's done

  6. Ok, with the newest version of Nero, i could not see and video-cd templates. so i installed an older version...and that one did..
I statered nero, i picked video-cd, and new button..i tried to drag the .avi files to the left and said something about it did not support it or something.
i also tried thw tmpenc thing and this is what happend. I followed the instructions on this web site and i waited for hours...when it finished i clicked on the file and all it played was the audio from the movie...? is that what it was supposed to do?
How can I just use nero by draggin and dropping files if mine wont let me..? ..am i doing anything wrong here, or is it just me?

whoa, you didn't mention anything about a ps2. I don't know anything about getting a ps2 to play vcd's. I imagine you'll have to get some sort of mod-chip-like device. so the ps2 can read the cdr at all. which is why it asked you to insert a disk.

  12. Ok, thanks..BUT..now
    I get the following ERRROR:
(Error: No combination of filters could be found to render the stream.)
And i have not idea what that means.
I also tried playing it on a DVD Player in my compter and nothing happend. I looked for the files under my computer, etc...they where there, i clicked on all the files but i could not get the movie to play.
IF and only IF I cannot make the movie play on my ps2 how can i make it play on a regulare cd-rom on a computer?
My ps2 can play cd-r with music (not mp3) but can't play cd-rw.
why wouldn't it play cd-r with movies?

  14. You might want to try a program like Ulead Videostudio 6. It does a good job of capturing, converting, editing and burning VCD's. you can download a trial version at Ulead's website. The trial version is not crippled other than it has fewer transitions.

  15. for your question on why it cant play a videocd is the same as if it can play pc games... no why should it... anyways it's normal that clicking on the files in your computer doesn't work... you have to open the file by going to the mpgav folder through windows media player and open the .dat file that way. or you might try to drag and drop that file in an open window of windowsmedia player.

  16. i actuallay already tried that, and did not work. i also could not find any dat files and there is only 1 file in the mpgav folder thats not a dat file....
i tried again with the QuickVCD player and now it says it ran out of memory after i rebooted...?... i got the videostudio6 free trial...this looks too complicated....i rather stick to nero....
