    This thread should probably die, but I do feel a need to answer this. There is a simple reason for buying now. One year from now the only HD DVDs left at any price will be the ones that suck that nobody wants. If you want to get Star Trek The Original Series season 1 or Planet Earth or stuff like that, you'd better get them while you can.

    I doubt SVHS, but perhaps LDs or very likely SVCDs are quite possible.
    I have seen *newly released* movies on SVCD less than year ago in Asia...
