  1. I'm trying to burn some VCDs of camcorder footage I captured on my All-In-Wonder card as an .mp2 file. I was going to do it with Nero, but Nero wants a plugin and when I went to their site it said the plugin is not available at this time. I assume the problem is that I need to downconvert my .mp2 files to .avi files before Nero can deal with them for the purposes of burning a VCD, but I don't know all the possible workarounds and I'd appreciate any advice.

I have an aiw radeon, so i use the same method of capturing. i have found two ways of converting so far.

-you can use a small program called "flaskmpeg" to convert the mp2 to lossless avi. the best quality. you can even specify which sections of the mp2 to convert. it also supports other compression methods, huffy, divx... and so on. the biggest problem arises if you are using a win 9x os. there is a 4gb limit on avi files. so you can't have an avi file longer than 8min. but you can always convert to mpg, and join later.

-with tmpgenc, you can convert straight from mp2 to vcd-compliant mpeg1. takes quite a while to do. you don't have to worry about the 4gb limit though. you can even cut up, and rejoin the files. nero should recognize your mpeg without any troubles. to do this, you need the mpeg2 plugin.

of course, both these methods are highligted in the "capture" section of this website. if you need anymore help, contact me.
