Hello All!
I have a video file that came with an extension of .TP G-Spot v2.70a indicates that it is an MPEG-2 Transport Stream, Mime Type: video/mp2t but gives no other info on it (with 265 codecs loaded). I know the file is an HDTV capture (1920x1080i & AC3). It will play with Media Player Classic (choppy) and with VLC, which plays perfectly smooth.
What codec is appropriate for it and should it in fact have an .MPG extension?
Thanks much!

Edit: After my post was moved to this forum, I see that there is a sticky on .TP files, so hopefully that will answer my questions. Thanks!!!![]()

No, it should be named tp or ts. You can convert it to a mpg with hdtvtompeg2.
I would use ffdshow, haali media splitter and play with Media Player Classic(You might have to disable the internal mpeg2 decoder in mpc).
