    hi everyone,
is there a big difference in av input recording quality if i use a canon hv10 w/c is a high def camcorder cos im thingking if i use a high def cam the output av in record will be in 1040i format? while in mini dv the output av input recording will result only in standard def?

i want to hook it up with a bullet cam with these two, a high def or standard def?

The HD camcorders only have SD analogue inputs.

The HV20 analoguoe input is only composite. I guess the HV10 is the same.

    Cheers,
    David.

canon hv10 has an av input which you can hook up with a external cam like bullet cam..my question is if i hook up with bullet cam does the quality of my recorded videos will be in 1080i size video? and much better than the sd minidv?or it will the same?

It will be 480i for an "NTSC" model and 576i for a "PAL" model, exactly the same as miniDV.

    Cheers,
    David.

No, but the HV-10/20 will accept HDV format at 1440x1080i 29.97 over IEEE-1394.

By the way, which bulletcam outputs 1080i over analog component?

actually the bullet cam supports a tv lines of 520res,so maybe if i use the hv 10 to hook up il get a higher effective pixel over the analog inputs, but he said that it still the same as mini dv

Are you sure that the figure isn't "horizontal resolution = 520 lines" or something similar?

Is it this thing? That is standard definition analog composite video 480i but with claimed "520 lines" of horizontal resolution. No high definition here. It will record to any NTSC composite input including DV or HDV camcorders with analog composite inputs but it will only record in 720x480i DV mode.

so i should go for a sd minidv cos hd or sd are likely the same when it comes to a/v input recording

Make sure it has analog inputs. Not all models have that.
