    Hi,

My new PC has a DVB-T PCI card in it which I'm going to use to record UK Freeview broadcast movies and then output them to DVD.

I'm not bothered about editing out adverts, but I do want to trim away the 'start 5 mins early and end 5 mins late' recording time buffers so the video starts at the beginning of the movie and ends at the end of it.

The TV card records in MPEG-2 DVD format so I don't need to convert the source, I just want a bit of software to snip the start and the end, allowing me to select a specific frame (jumping to an I Frame if that's needed), and not mucking up the audio-sync or the integrity of the MPEG-2 compliance.

Which software do you guys recommend? One of the programs I used mucked up the MPEG-2 compliance (can't remember which), another crashed, and a 3rd put the audio out of sync !! Surely some quick to use software preferably (but not necessarily) freeware can do this to a high standard?

    Thanks all.

Have a look at what Womble have to offer.

MPEG-VCR is probably best for what you want - best of all it stream copies so there is no coding to worry about and it is , therefore, very fast.

I use it to cut ads out (as well as trim start/end buffering) with excellent results. The only downside is that it's payware but at $35 (US) and a free trial I think it's good value

I use Cuttermaran and it works good, but requires elementary streams. It has a nice "quick jump" feature. I see you're on W2k so you should know that it requires the .net framework if that matters to you.

    I've never used Mpg2Cut2.
