So I just put together my new computer... I am using the same NEC Diamondtron monitor and Sony 1080p HDTV I was using with my old computer...
My old computer had an ATI Radeon x800XT-PE, with some pretty old drivers and an old version of the Catalyst software. However, with my old computer when I cloned by monitor to my HDTV (in theatre mode), I was able to have my monitor at 1600x1200 and then my TV went to its maximum resolution (which I think is 1400x900)... using that cloning, I was able to keep my monitor at my preferred resolution, and the TV filled out with as much as it could (the screen scrolled to follow the mouse since 1600x1200 is higher than 1400x900.
So now I have my new PC with an ATI Radeon HD3870x2 and whatever version of the Catalyst Control Center that came on the install disk. However, this new catalyst software is completely diffferent from the old software, and unfortunately, it doesnt give me the same cloning options. Now when I clone my monitor to my HDTV, instead of putting the HDTV at 1400x900 and letting me keep my monitor to 1600x1200, it instead forces my monitor and my HDTV to be the exact same resolution... which of course means that I can only have my monitor at a max of 1400x900. Frankly, this is nowhere near as good as the old software...
What I want...
Monitor: 1600x1200 (display 1)
HDTV: 1400x900 (cloned display 1)
Theatre Mode
Is there any way to do this with the Catalyst Control Panel?

I have the same problem with my Vista Media Center system.
I changed my graphic card from nvidia to Ati. To be honest. this is already a big improvement in my case.
But back to the problem. I have Originae x15e with a 7" touchscreen. This works best on a resolution of 800-600 or 1024-768 (the last resolution is a bit to small for a 7" screen).
I run my Toshiba HDTV on a 1164-648 resolution (the best Catalyst control Center offers for my tv).
In clone mode I need to run both on 1024-768 to have it work. This oke in Media Center except that it is not possible to change the view on my tv(wide screen etc).
I do not need to use the screens at the same time. The problem I have is that every time I switch screen with catalyst or with my assigned hot-key, my tv goes back to the resolution of the touchscreen(1024-768).
Best would be a clone mode with two different resolution and just turning the monitor of if I don't need it.
Hopefully there is a solutionHTCP-Originae x15e
