When I am done converting my avi file to mp4 using visualhub, it becomes 4:3. Is there a way to control and change the aspect ratio with visualhub? I want to add some of those horizontal blackbars when I watch it in fullscreen?

    Thanks for your time.

VisualHub only converts. You want MPEG Streamclip to crop
out the black bars. It's free.

  3. The Advanced options lets you change the aspect ratio.
using FFMPEG flags -padtop ## and -padbottom ## you can add the bars.

With the right flag, you can even change the color!

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

albloom: Yeah, Mpeg Streamclip works great.

Scav2003: ohhh, thats sounds awesome. I will definitely try it. If it works, I will save it as a preset so I dont forget the "cheat code" as the dude who wrote visualhub calls it.

How do you change the color? And where do I find these wonderful flags to let me do all kinds of cool stuff in visualhub? Oh and does the flag that says "best H264/AVC for animation" mean better for converting anime?

There's also -padleft and -padright which if you're doing fansubbed anime might be useful as fan subbers tend to put the subtitles too far down.

I don't know the flag to change color, but I saw it mentioned at the visualhub forum at techspansion.

Do I write it like this "-padtop 6 -padbottom 6" or do I write it as "-padtop 06 -padbottom 06" using 6 as an example or do I write it as "-padtop ## -padbottom ##" with just ##? When I try to input it into the flags, it keeps staying in passing video not matter how long. Is it suppose to take a long time?

nevermind (but use "-padtop 6"). You must specify the value (6 in your example) in pixels.
color: "-padcolor 000000" (value is hexadecimal)

no real speed difference(maybe a lose of speed of 5% during encoding? not more), it must be a failure.
