Hi, I wonder if anybody here has heard of/come across a USB-device for recording vinyls (using eg Audacity) straight fom the turntable in to the device which provides the necessary RIAA-compensation thus rendering the amplifier unnecessary, making the process somewhat less cumbersome. I know of at least one such USB-stick but cannot remember the name.. ...puhleeze help!

The Source(aka radio shack)sells usb turntables that work with computers, also check google for software that will record vinyl from line-in without using usb devices.

Yeah, but a turntable I have. Remember - it's a USB-stick (although perhaps twice normal USB-stick size) that I saw in that ad.

You can find a pre-amp box which can do the same thing.

That is: yes but I want it straight from the turntable to the PC.

Slightly off the original topic, but I notice that the title of this thread is "Vinyl to Mp3." BAD IDEA! I you want your stuff to last, record straight to WAV. Remember that MP3 is a lossy format; WAV isn't.
