  1. Well, I have this situation and I need advice on how to proceed. Any opinion is well received.

I purchased some expensive instructional videos from a website on Feb 11th, they said they shipped them the next day and I've been waiting since then. On Wednesday I emailed them about it again and they said that their tracking system says that the item was delivered already (they sent it USPS with delivery confirmation).
They gave me the tracking number and indeed it says delivered in Tampa, 33618 but I haven't received anything!.
My mailman comes everyday at noon and I talked to him today, he says that he left a package this week at the door of my house.
So, the package was left there, but the thing is.... they are pretty expensive videos, I can't believe that I've received $20 items that I've had to sign for, and now they sent this package just like that?.

The store that sent the videos already told me that since their tracking system shows the item as "delivered" they are not responsible for them.

I'm in uncharted waters since I've never been in a situation like this before. They also told me that I should file a claim with the Postal Office, Police.. yada yada yada, but made it very clear that they were not to be held liable for them.

I want to go to my bank and file a chargeback, but I don't know if I'm entitled to since they have this so called "confirmation", but I keep thinking that I didn't sign for anything (received) so why should I take the blow because they were so cheap that even though they charged me $25 for a 10-dvd shipping fee they couldn't add a $1.50 signature request to my package?.

Please advise, I don't want to rush anything but to do the right thing. (Something that won't come back and bite me in the ass in a month or two).

    Thanks in advance.

File a claim with the USPS. It was their responsibility to deliver it and they have no proof that they did. It's not uncommon for delivery services to leave packages at the front door, but that doesn't absolve them of responsibility. At any rate, it's not the fault of the people you bought the videos from.

I'd file a claim with your bank &/or credit card company.

American Express for the win in these circumstances. One call to Amex customer service and they cancel or credit back the charge. The protection afforded of their charge cards is the primary reason I pay the steep annual fees for them.

However in your case I'd start with the USPS. If the delivery was required to have a signature before being left then it would be their fault. If a signature of confirmation was not required then you may need to take it up with the seller.

If it was delivery confirmation all USPS has to do is scan it when the drop it off to show it was delivered.

If it was signature required and they just dropped it off, USPS is at fault.

And unless you requested signature required it's not really the sellers fault.

I had shipped a handgun to california from michigan to have a custom hardwood grip fitted to it, the company sent it back UPS insured and signature required, i came home one day and there was my hand gun in a box sitting on my steps outside my door

It had the signature required label right on it, i called UPS mad as hell!!!! and they said, well if it's a good neighborhood we will just drop it off... i was like are you F'n NUTZ!!!!!! it was a handgun, it was insured, it REQUIRED a signature!!!
Now what if one of the many little neighborhood kids snatched it off my steps ?? what if i say i never got it ??
Prove i did with no signature!!!!!!!!

A lot of the time, delivery people are F'n morons and don't do their job because they try to save time.
