Hi, I have been reading , testing and trying difrent forums, sites, guides and programs... and I still cant find a way to my problem... maybe Im missing something.

****I have listed at the end of this msg the list of softwares/programs I have been using****

I have read difrent guides where they explain with pictures step by step... but when I download it and almost done with it, It pops out something like only "5min" of my entire DVD will be worked... when they were supposed to be free, and later I get this sort of "water mark" that appears on the middle of the screen ... someone guide me please...

I still keep wondering if it is NECESARY to change an .IFO to an .Avi?
Since pretty much every forum Ive read they all trying to change it, I followed the steps.. but my .avi movie plays pretty fast like people move fast, talk fast etc.... not on a normal way. (Auto Gordian Knot 2.45 was the one I used, later another software pops out and it takes a LOT of time just to do 1 VTS_01_0.IFO...)

    So this is it...

I copied a DVD (as in copy , paste) to my CPU, its in Japanese, and I want to:

    1. add subtitles to it,
    2. cut out the unneccesary ads, (create EPISODES) everything is mixed.. (1 VTS contains 2 - 3 episodes)
    3. would like to create a menu.

When you play the DVD on a DVD player, it doesnt show any kind of menu you usually find on a DVD, it pretty much plays like if it where a VHS.

The folder appers as VIDEO_TS and inside there are IFO, BUP, and vob files.

I have download so many things now, Im going crazy lol...

    1. Daniusoft DVD ripper
    2. AVS Video Re-Maker
    3. AVS Video Converter
    4. AVS Video tools
    5. AVS DVD to GO
    6. AVS Capture Wizard
    7. AnvSoft Movie DVD Maker
    8. Super DVD Creator Setup
    9. PlatoVideo Joiner
    10. Cucusoft Ultimare DVD + Video Converter Suite
    11. X Video Converter
    12. ConverterXtoDVD3
    13. Auto Gordian Knot 2.45
    14. Subtitle Creator
    15. Subtitle Workshop

I know there must be tonz of newbies like me :P but I really appreciate any help! thank you very much!!!

Most of what you have listed there is either rubbish, or simply completely inappropriate for what you are trying to do.

If your final target is to create a new DVD, then converting to AVI is not necessary and a waste of time.

Do you have subtitles already ? If so, in what format ?

    Simplest solution would be to

    1. Use VOB2MPG to get the episodes in to mpg files without re-encoding. You will get one or several files, depending on how the disc was authored. By your description, it has been badly authored, sou may end up with one big file.

    2. Edit the file(s). I like VideoRedo or Womble for this. Once edited, demux the files back to elementary streams, ready for authoring.

    3. If you don't have subtitles, now is the time to create them using subtitle workshop. If you do have subtitles, load them into subtitle workshop and make sure they are aligned with the dialogue correctly.

    4. Author all the parts back together again. Use GUIForDVDAUthor or DVD Styler if you need a free tool. You can add chapters, subtitles, menus etc at this stage.

    5. Test and burn with Imgburn.

    Done

I know it seems complicated for a newbie, but by doing it this way, you keep control over the quality and the results. Trusting your files to a one click wonder, especially a motley crew like the list above, is only asking for trouble.

From you list above, I would only consider SUPER, for those odd format conversions, ConvertXtoDVD for avi->DVD conversions, and AutoGK for DVD->AVI conversions. Everything else listed from 1 - 11 is rubbish.

    Hi thnx for your reply...

I tried VOB2MPG and it kinda doesnt seem to work out... so since I thoug I had to change the DVD to MPG format I used the tools mentioned in this link.

    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic224833.html#rejigdemultiplex

I used Rejig which worked pretty fine... but the files that are suposed to be Mpeg... VideoReDo... wont accept them...

    what am I doing wrong?

PS.. Im now using TMPGEnc DVD trial and its awesome... very simple and easy to use... but Im I wasting my time?? are all those trial softwares a waste of time??

Jejig gives you elementary streams. VideoRedo needs a programe stream.

VOB2MPG needs .net installed. You can get it from Microsoft.

The trial for TDA doesn't watermark, so as long as you get the project finished before the trial runs out, you should be OK.
