  1. I need to create a font/typeface with only squares. Alternatively, download one, if there is one for free.

I know that "windings" probably has some symbol that is just a square, but this needs to be the square on all letters of the alphabet....

Think like this: if i type the word "videodrome", and i do it in two layers with a normal Times New Roman font on top, and my square-font underneath, the result should be the text "videodrome" with a black "bar" or "box" underneath. More or less following the character width, neatly.

Any ideas on what could be the best program to achieve this? I need to create a Truetype font, alternatively one of those PFB/PFM fonts.

  2. Yeah, thanks....
i downloaded Fontlabs "Typetool 3", a demo... I'm starting to realize though, that i'm not gonna be able to pull this off like that.

If i want to make the font, within reasonable time i'd need some powerful snapping. And i would load verdana.ttf , and just doubleclick each letter, and, swisch, draw a square to cover the whole letter. And then continue to the next letter and draw a square in the exact same height.
I couldnt get the snapping to work very well in TypeTool though.

Its interesting by the way that people seem to see it as an outdatd tool, it feels very mature. I guess Fontographer and the others must be very complex.

    1) Have you learned the diffrence between fixed-width and variable-width?

    2) Have you ever heard about "copy and paste"
