Hi, I recently got a 360 as my PS2 broke and I've been having a lot of problems with capturing videos since.

I've tried using DScaler, and the picture quality is fantastic with it, but it keeps lagging when recording and playing it back.

I've tried using WinTV (which came with my cap card) and that just hates the pal60 signal.

And finally I've tried VirtualDub because it's easy to use, but if I record I have to record in widescreen, because if I try full screen the picture quality is awful and the file size is just stupid. I recorded 4 videos with this the other day, in total it was about 5 mins worth of footage and it came to 1GB in size.

So what I'm asking is, is there a simple and easy to follow guide for any of these to set them up properly or is there something else I can download which is easy to use and set up. Or is there something I can download to sort out DScaler, vDub or WinTV?

    Thanks.

  2. What compression codec were you using in VirtualDub? 1 GB for a 5 minute recording sounds like DV. You can use a codec that can compress more, like Divx, MJPEG, etc.

Video -> Compression... select codec in left pane, press Configure, set desired parameters.

I've tried using DivX and Xvid but when I went to record with either of them it wouldn't let me.

Also now I've tried VDub again I'm having problems getting it to recognise the PAL 60 signal from my xbox and it's got a massive green bar at the bottom of the screen.

I had the same problem with my WinTV. I don't think they like VirtualDub very much. I had to switch over to Dscaler and everything was fine.

I capture AVI with the HuffYuv codec at 640x480, PAL60, with no problems now.

How did you set up Dscaler? I get an amazing picture quality from it if I just want to take a pic but it lags when recording and keeps skipping when I try to play it back.
