I am trying to convert a .mkv file to a .avi file and I am using AlltoAvi to do it. The problem is that since I started adding the subtitle option, the conversions crashes about half way through the process. Why is this happening? It wasn't doing it without the subtitles.

Here are the settings I am using:

    Screen size: 704-400 Bi Cubic
    Video Encoder: XVID
    Video Bitrate: High Quality
    Audio Bitrate: High Quality
    Subtitle: 1 English

Thanks everybody see if anybody knows the answer...

convert to AVI without subtitles, and then add subtitles to the AVI

I don't know that tool, but since you said that the error came because of adding subtitles, then the obvious is not to add subtitles.....you can make that in a later stage using Vdub (for example)

Ok, but do the subtitles get added by hand in VDUB or does VDUB just add the entire subtitle track?
