ImgBurn displays “There doesn’t appear to be enough space on the disc to burn this image…Would you like to continue anyway? If continue, what will happen? Can ImgBurn burn DVD-9 to DVD-5 and Main Movie only? Could you explain it?

Nope. Imgburn burns discs. That is all it does, and it does it extremely well. If you want to strip down your videos first I suggest you look at DVD shrink or DVD Rebuilder (or both, as the situation requires)

I would like to compare the ImgBurn with the other backup software and see how well it is. Do you mean using the DVD Rebuilder first and then the ImgBurn to burn the DVD Main Movie or fit to the DVD-5? Does the DVD Rebuilder has the option to import only DVD main movie or fit to DVD-5?

IMGBURN is software to burn DVD MEDIA.
DVD REBUILDER is software to convert dvd movies to fit on single layer dvd media (DVD-5). You can also select movie only w/DVD REBUILDER. What is it that you are trying to accomplish?

Just rip the dvd disc movie files to your hard drive with DVDFAB HD DECRYPTER then let DVD REBUILDER do it's thing. Search is your friend....do a search on a guide on how to use DVD REBUILDER. Or better yet just use DVD SHRINK and choose MOVIE ONLY which will fit on a single layer dvd-5 disc.

My understand is I need two tools, DVD Shrink3.2 or DVD Rebuilder AND ImgBurm to burn and fit DVD movie into a 4.7GB disc, right? However, DVD Shrinl3.2 back up DVD movie to HDD. There is no DVD-5 option, right? How can the ImgBurn then burn and fit the DVD file to a regular DVD-/+R(W) disc?

You need to start reading some guides FIRST.

You burn it with ImgBurn AFTER you shrink it with DVDShrink (or DVD Rebuilder, which I've not used).

    [Edit: too slow, again]

Thanks hech54 and Jim44. That’s an exciting DVD Shrink3.2 tutorial. I did exactly the same and backed up the DVD movie into the HDD. The problem seems on the ImgBurn. After shrinking the DVD movie into the HDD with the DVD Shrink3.2, can I then burn and fit it from the HDD into a 4.7GB DVD disc with the ImgBurn? It seems “can’t” because the ImgBurn does not provide that option for burning like the Nero Recode, right? I only see the mode of the ImgBurn has Read, Build, Write, Verify and Discovery.

I'm not that familiar with DVDShrink - what was it's output, an ISO file or VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders?

If an ISO file, use "Write" mode in ImgBurn.

If Video_ts/Audio_ts folders use "Build" mode and either the Video_ts folder or it's parent (the one that contains the Video_ts & Audio_ts folders) as the source.

BTW, there's a whole bunch of guide for ImgBurn here:

I'm not a newbie to this process. I've used DVD REBUILDER PRO & DVD SHRINK for years now! :P
You seriously need to read some guides over to the left over there<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<!

I want to back up a dual layer DVD into a DVD disc. I read previous posts about how good the mgBurn is. So I want to test it. Why there is no one say ImgBurn cannot burn dual layer DVD but 1:1 copy only. DVD Shrink3.2 cannot burn DVD into a disc. It has nothing to do with the help to ImgBurn to burn an over sized DVD movie into the disc, right? So, the function of the ImgBurn seems limited because the most of the market DVD movie is beyond a regular DVD size.

Coody, you seem to be having a problem discerning between software strickly for burning and software primarily for shrinking/reencoding. ImgBurn does not shrink down or remaster the DVD files. You must use DVD Shrink or rebuilder to reduce everything to fit a DVD-5, THEN burn with ImgBurn (which ONLY burns the final DVD disc). It is really not that complicated. The previous posters are trying to help you, and their advice to read the guides should be taken. ImgBurn is a great BURNER (the best, IMO). Don't expect it to be a shrinker or Main Movie extractor. It was never designed for that.

filmboss80, you are saying using DVD Shrink or rebuilder to reduce everything to fit a DVD-5 by backing up it to the HDD, then using the ImgBurn to burn that REDUCED VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders from the HDD to the regular DVD-/+R(W). Is it correct?

Yep. DVD Shrink shrinks videos nicely to fit a DVD-5, saving as a Video_TS folder on the hard-drive. The burn-to-disc step is done by loading that folder in ImgBurn and letting it go. ImgBurn is like the Burning-Rom feature of Nero, only more reliable, IMO.

I've ripped a DVD onto the HDD with Decryptor which is about 9gb. I'm trying to shrink it so it fits to a single layer disc but DVD shrink doesnt seem to want to do it. Tried following the tutorials to "Open Files" and select the file VIDEO_TS.IFO as stated by it seems to only allow me select the folder but then a error prompts "Invalid data in file: F:\...\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB"

Any advice or guide to help me with this problem would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

    No...
Use DVDShrink to reduce the size of the resultant ISO file (AUTOMATIC Compression is default)...save the ISO (remember the name!)
Use ImgBurn to burn ISO file saved using DVDShrink to Single Layered DVD!

    That's all folks!

  21. Hello there, there goes my question. I downloaded from the internet an old intalian movie impossible to buy where I live (long way from Italy) and would like to burn it on dvd. The download is a dvd9 folder. What can I do? I guess by reading the thread I should go for DVDShrink. Can DVDShrink do its job with an existing dvd folder? Or is there any software I can use to split the content in 2 dvd5?

    Thanks and happy new year!

    Yes.

If you don't care about menus, DVDShrink can split it. To keep the menus and anything else you want from the DVD (and remove things you don't want), VobBlanker. Here's a guide:
